LEED
When people ask about "Green", they hear the term LEED - well, what is it exactly? Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), is a ratings system that provides a set of standards for environmentally sustainable construction. LEED is a third-party certification program for the design, construction and operation of green buildings. It promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality. So, in addition to its proven long-term advantages, LEED certified construction can also have an immediate and measurable impact by providing healthier living environments for today's homeowners as well.
Jesse Ware of JP Ware Design earned his LEED accreditation in 2009.
